Ecology and Marine Coral Calcium
Our Marine Grade Coral Calcium is mined by an
underwater vacuuming operation that collects the fresh droppings from the
marine coral. It does NOT harm the living coral reef but
cleans the reef and the immediate area which in turn
enables the coral to thrive. Its collection can be compared to collecting dead leaves that
have fallen from trees without harming the trees at all. This operation
is closely monitored by the Japanese Government to insure that the living
coral reefs are not harmed in any way. Damaging the coral reef in any way
leads to criminal prosecution. The Coral that we use is harvested by
Marine BioTech under the strict supervision of the Japanese
Government. The Actual
vacuum collection of coral sands takes place between one and two miles
from the Okinawa reefs where the coral fragments broken off by wave action
collect in ocean trenches.
CITES (Convention on International
Trade in Endangered Species), an international group chartered to protect
endangered species removed restrictions on trade in coral sands and
fragments at its April, 2000 convention in
Nairobi
